The RTPI is working with the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Building. With a combined membership of over 175,000 skilled professionals, the Institutes are lobbying government on six priorities for the built environment:
In 2018 the institutes wrote to the former Minister for Trade, the Rt. Hon. George Hollingbery MP to meet with him. This followed a close working relationship with his predecessor, including a roundtable with the institute's presidents to discuss how the built environment professions are an important export for the UK.
In a jointly issued statement in July 2017, the four institutes raised skills and standards as Brexit priorites.
