RTPI Future Planners Bursary 2023 (England)

Apply for £5,000 to support your next step into town planning!

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is delighted to announce that it is offering 58 RTPI Future Planners bursaries to a selection of students who choose to enrol on an RTPI accredited Planning Masters for this coming academic year.  The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has provided grant funding to make this year’s scheme happen.

What this bursary is for

Bursaries of £5,000 will be awarded to the selected students on successful enrolment at one of the RTPI's Accredited Planning Schools in England.  The bursary goes towards the cost of studies for the academic year 2023-24.

Our aim is to encourage and convert diverse talent and graduates passionate about planning from a variety of related disciplines and under-represented backgrounds to study a fully-accredited Planning Masters.

Application process

To be considered for a bursary, applicants were expected to meet the eligibility criteria detailed in the webform and submit a short blog or vlog of no more than 500 words that clearly articulates:

  • your interest in planning and why you are pursuing this career (this could include current challenges that affect planning and for the future):

  • why you believe that you deserve the bursary (this could include resilience to overcome specific issues encountered in pursuit of education);

  • any evidence of relevant work experience.

Deadline for applications was 10 July 2023. We are no longer accepting applications.

The RTPI will endeavour to notify all applicants and Planning Schools in advance of the new academic year.
